Indonesia Culture | Batik Day

Batik Day Batik Day,

October 2, every year is a holiday.  Not here in the states, but in Indonesia.  Batik Day is a celebration of the traditional cloth of Indonesia and is recognized as cultural contribution to the world.  Batik is rooted heavily from historical artworks of Indonesia. Batik is made from a wax resistant dyeing technique applied to cloth.  The wax is applied to the cloth, then soaked in dye.  The wax is then removed with boiling water leaving the artistically beautiful patterns.

The Indonesian government strongly encourages every Indonesian to wear Batik on this day in celebration of its culture.

This Batik that I am wearing comes directly from Indonesia.  It was given to my by my exchange son.  I will do my best to wear it every October 2nd and days in between too.

If you like this post and would like to see more like it, like my facebook page.  If you found it helpful, please share it.

As always, Keep Smiling.

The following is my attempt at translation to Bahasa Indonesia.  :)

Hari Batik,

Jika Anda menemukannya bermanfaat, silahkan berbagi.

Seperti biasa, Keep Smiling.
